Boundary Stone Partners Announces Ted Chiodo as Chief Operating Officer, Elevates Sydney Bopp to Managing Partner, Christine Turner to Partner

The now 40-person strategic advisory firm is attracting top Beltway, Silicon Valley talent

WASHINGTON (July 24, 2023) – Boundary Stone Partners (BSP) announced today that the Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, CA-based government affairs firm has expanded its national practice, hiring Ted Chiodo as Boundary Stone’s new Chief Operating Officer. Chiodo previously led operations for SKDK and served as CEO and founder of the IT consulting firm Langley Cyber.

Additionally, Sydney Bopp has been elevated to Managing Partner, and Christine Turner has been elevated to Partner. The addition of Chiodo and the elevation of Bopp and Turner will be instrumental to Boundary Stone’s ability to provide strategic advice to the firm’s diverse roster of clients working to address the climate crisis and build the clean energy economy of the future. In total, Boundary Stone has brought on ten new employees since the start of 2023.

​​Ted Chiodo, COO, previously served as COO at SKDK, overseeing the largest period of expansion at the highly respected public affairs and political consulting firm. Chiodo has held high-level positions working for President Obama, on then-Senator Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, on the 2008 Presidential Transition Team, and as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Staff Secretary in the former President’s first and second term. Chiodo was most recently CEO and founder of the IT consulting firm Langley Cyber.

Sydney Bopp, Managing Partner, joined Boundary Stone in 2022 as Senior Vice President with nearly 15 years of experience working on clean energy and federal finance and funding programs. Most recently, she served as Chief of Staff in the U.S. Department of Energy Loan Programs Office to Director Jigar Shah (2021-2022). As Managing Partner, Bopp will lend her strengths to growing the firm’s business and management operations.

Christine Turner, Partner, joined Boundary Stone in 2020 from her prior role as Head of Global Public Policy for WhatsApp. Christine also served as Director of ​​Trade Policy and Global Supply Chain Security on the White House National Security Council under the Obama Administration. Turner has nearly two decades of strategic experience crafting innovative legal and policy solutions for domestic and global challenges involving critical U.S. economic and national security interests. As a Partner, Turner brings her expertise and professionalism to serve the companies, investors, and organizations supported by BSP.

In addition to Chiodo, Boundary Stone has welcomed the following new staff this year:

  • Fatima Ahmad, Vice President. Ahmad most recently served as Senior Counsel with the U.S. House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis in the 116th and 117th Congresses. She held prior roles as Senior Fellow for the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions and Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Fish & Wildlife & Parks at the U.S. Department of the Interior.

  • Alex Aquino, Associate. Before joining Boundary Stone, Aquino interned at top lobbying and government relations firms in DC, researching clean energy, transportation, and transmission policies, tracking congressional activity, and conducting industry and regulatory analysis. Aquino holds Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Economics from George Washington University.

  • Kevin Curley, Senior Advisor for Energy and Climate Finance. Curley was most recently a Director of Structured Finance at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), where he led origination and credit underwriting for project finance, commercial finance, and risk-sharing frameworks in emerging markets. Before DFC, Curley served as an Investment Officer with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office.

  • Rachael Grace, Vice President. Most recently, Grace was a Senior Policy Director at Rewiring America, where she drove and executed the nonprofit's federal policy strategy. Grace has also held roles as Lead Policy Analyst at NRDC and as an ESG/impact investment advisor for private equity clients.

  • Raven Graf, Manager. Graf most recently served Senator Sheldon Whitehouse as a legislative correspondent and was a Climate Action Senior Fellow at Swarthmore College. Graf holds a Masters of Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.

  • Gio Liguori, Associate. Liguori joined BSP after obtaining his Masters of Public Policy from George Washington University. He has experience in government relations and energy from professional experiences at the Bipartisan Policy Center, Paychex, and Global Efficiency Intelligence.

  • Vandan Patel, Manager. Patel was previously an energy and environmental legislative correspondent on Senator Chuck Schumer's team. He was intimately involved in shaping major pieces of legislation in the last few years, including CHIPS, BIL, and IRA. He also supported and eventually led the Leader’s energy and environment appropriations work.

  • James Prussing, Vice President. Prussing most recently served as a Senior Advisor in the U.S. Department of Treasury's Office of Climate & Environment, where he developed and coordinated the Treasury Department's international climate and sustainable finance policies. Prussing is a fellow at the Truman National Security Project and the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and holds an M.S. in Energy Policy and Climate from Johns Hopkins University and an M.A. in Security Studies from Georgetown University.

  • Emily Samsel, Vice President for Strategic Communications. Samsel joined BSP after serving as National Communications Director for the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) where she was integral to the organization's groundbreaking campaign to pass the Inflation Reduction Act. Before LCV, Samsel worked for former Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo, and previously held positions at SKDK, the 2016 Hillary for America campaign, MSNBC, and the 2012 and 2008 Obama for America campaigns.
